You may have heard rumors or talk about the warnings that tens of thousands of Americans may lose their Internet service on Monday (July 9, 2012) unless they do a quick check of their computers for malware that could have taken over their machines more than a year ago. According to the Associated Press, computers that are still infected on Monday will lose their ability to go online, and they will have to call their service providers for help deleting the malware and reconnecting to the Internet.
As one who is always very cautious about rumors of viruses and malware and virtual doom, I checked it out – just to make sure the rumor wasn’t a fake. Evidently, it is not a fake, but true!
