This lesson is a good one. Thankfully not all lessons learned have to be negative. In fact, this lesson learned is due to my participating in a 29 day blogging challenge over on Sue Guiher’s Thrive4Success.com blog. My initial thought was … “You mean I have to post a blog post every single day for the entire month of February? 29 days in a row????” I do good just getting my two normal blog posts per week out, so there was no way I could even imagine doing 7 each week … 7 days all in a row for 4 weeks! Wow. But then my buddy Kim Ravida jumped in and volunteered to do it with me.
Well here we are at day 28. Just one more day to go, and I’ve kept up and posted every day. It’s been a big, BIG stretch for me, but it’s also been a lot of fun, and I’ve learned a lot about how much I actually do like to write.
Since I already published two blog posts each week, that meant I had to come up 5 more. Three of the days weren’t that difficult because I already had social media posts on specific topics (Monday Marketing BizTip, Wednesday Business Wisdom, and on Friday, How to Use a VA), so all I had to do was expand the one-liners into a short blog post. I’ve been aiming for 300 words most of the time. That left the weekends. Saturday turned into a quick tip/list post (like yesterday’s post on 5 tips to get more engagement on Facebook, or last week’s post about my 5 favorite plugins), and these Lessons Learned posts for Sunday. The quick tip/list posts are easy. The ones for Sunday are a bit more difficult to come up with.If you think you can't do it. Think again. Reach deep into your gut. Pull it up and get it done!Click To Tweet
One of the things this challenge has taught me is that I really do like to write, and I really am capable of writing. I may not be ready to continue writing and posting 7 days a week, but I believe I can commit to 5 days a week. It’s just a little more stretch than I started with, but it’s a good stretch. A good stretch for me that I enjoy doing. So as long as I can continue to come up with topics, it’s a go.
So, I’d like to give a huge shout out to Sue Guiher, Kim Ravida and all of the other bloggers who are participating in the 29 day blogging challenge for their support and the opportunity to not only crawl out of my comfort zone, but jump out far beyond the peripheral edges! I hope you’ll wander on over to Sue’s blog and take a look at what we’ve all been up to.
