If you’re one of the many business owners who woke up one morning to a wonky and out of wack cover image on your Facebook group page, I feel your pain. Apparently, Mark Zuckerberg and his Facebook minions changed the dimensions of the cover image for Facebook groups during the night while most of us were sleeping. Imagine that! (I’m still waiting for the business page profile image to make the change from a square image to a round one. I guess they’re just trying to keep us on our toes, because it hasn’t happened yet!)
My newsfeed was inundated with questions and comments from frustrated group owners and social media managers who couldn’t figure out what had gone wrong, or why repeated attempts to realign or fix existing cover images didn’t work.
And then, slowly but surely, others (apparently in the know and on speaking terms with Mr. Zuckerburg’s minions) began posting articles, and links to articles, explaining what had happened, and providing the new dimensions for the new Facebook group cover.
There was still a LOT of frustration as people rushed to get their Facebook group images looking spiffy and in order again, because for some, the new dimensions still didn’t work. There were a few false starts as some of the articles had different dimensions altogether. What also didn’t help, is that different sizes work for different platforms (Facebook’s ideal size, computer, mobile, iPad). I kept watching my feed though, because I knew at least one of my favorite social media marketers would be on the ball with the correct information. And she was! Not long after that, my newsfeed had a much happier tone to it!Still wondering what's up with your wonky Facebook group cover?Click To Tweet
If you’re still struggling to make things fit, here is a great article by Louise Myers to help ease your pain. She provides the correct dimensions for all of the platforms, and even has a handy dandy template you can download to make it easy.
If you’re fed up with it and don’t want to mess with it at all, no worries. Just let us know … we’re happy to help!
