I’ve always been a fan of using HootSuite. But I have to admit, I find myself using it less and less these days for Facebook updates. The main reason is that oftentimes Facebook updates scheduled on HootSuite will not contain the native Share button once posted, which a pretty big deal since you really want people to share your tweets. I’m always on the lookout for cool new resources … whether they be apps for my iPad or phone, software for storing or managing things in the “cloud,” new programs, plugins for WordPress, or whatever.
Well, I found another really great one! This particular resource is a cool little plugin for WordPress that will tweet old blog posts for you. How cool is that? It’s called (of all things) Tweet Old Post, and it’s a piece of cake to install and set up. You determine how far back you want to go (how old the posts are), how often you want the plugin to randomly select an old post to tweet for you and then just leave it and let it work for you behind the scenes. You can even add something before or after each tweet to let people know it’s an old post – something as simple as “Old Post -” right before or “- old post” right after the tweet. It’s just a simple way to repurpose your blog posts, yet not tick off Google by reposting them. If you have your Tweets posting to your Facebook page or elsewhere, it can do double duty for you.
So now, with one simple little plugin, all of the great wisdom you’ve been sharing through blog posts throughout the year can be brought to light again without you having to lift a finger!
