Our team works with coaches and speakers all over the world, so I know firsthand how important podcasting is in both of these industries. I’m also acutely aware that a LOT of work goes into producing a quality podcast before, during and after.
Podcasting. Many business owners listen and subscribe to the podcasts of others. Many business owners have been interviewed on the podcasts of others. Some even host their own – very successful shows!
Are you Podcasting?
There are also many of us who don’t host our own podcasts, but would love to. So what’s stopping us? Oftentimes I hear people say they don’t know enough about podcasting to be able to host and produce their own. Others say they are intimidated by the process, or no … they just couldn’t do it themselves, even though they would love to. Which camp are you in?
If you’re a speaker or coach and not currently podcasting for your business, it can only be for one of a few common reasons:
- You don’t understand the benefits of podcasting
- You can’t decide what to make your podcast about
- You don’t have the time to magically make these podcasts happen
Why just write it when you can speak it?
I’ve got a question for all of you coaches and speakers reading this. Are you podcasting yet? If the answer is no, I’ve also got to ask… why not?
As a virtual assistant who’s been around for quite a few years I always endorse blogging and social media as effective methods of marketing; but the fact of the matter is, there are a lot of folks in the world who prefer to listen than read. And that’s where podcasting comes in.
Most of us have thought about how cool it would be to start podcasting. At least I have, as Podcasting is becoming more and more popular every day. It’s a great way to get your content out to yet another market. Those who prefer to listen to content, and even more so – those who prefer to listen on the go. We can get overwhelmed just thinking about all the steps it takes to get from concept to final product. Not only do you have to come up with the content, but then you have to record the podcast. But that’s only the beginning. The next steps, and the ones that seem to cause business owners the most anxiety and tend to stop them in their tracks are the editing, the mixing, adding an intro and then an outro … sheesh!
Volumes of interesting information are delivered to the public, by the public, daily through the medium of the podcast. This downloadable audio format has endless possibilities including the ability to share new products, information, instructions, tutorials, and just about anything else audio in nature, and make it available on the web and through mobile media players. One of the best things about this format is you can create a podcast with minimal financial investment on your part, that people can listen to for free.
Every good business owner understands that marketing is the golden key to business success. Whether it’s social media, blogging, podcasting, or an array of other methods, business owners must effectively market in order to build their businesses. The problem is marketing takes time … and often a lot of time. That’s why it is so important to market smart and market effectively to get the best results.
One great way to get more exposure from all your marketing efforts is to combine several techniques together. A simple way to do that is to integrate your podcasting and blogging. This enables you to make powerful connections for your brand and business. When combined effectively, each can play off the other, and result in a very effective, ongoing promotional PR campaign.
