Continuing along the theme of recapping some of my favorite sessions at Social Media Week Lima 2018, this week’s newsletter features Tiffany Lanier. Her topic was Humanizing Video With Your Personal Brand.
Tiffany opened up by stating “Feeling good about what you do is how you show up,” followed by the question “What can you do to start showing up more human in your business.” Excellent question, and definitely something for me to think about! Tiffany talked about how to define a personal brand and what it means for our businesses. She also talked about how to take our skills, experience, and interest to create engaging human video content to draw our audience to our personal brand.
A great example of someone doing just that … taking their skills, experience, and interest to create engaging human video content to draw our audience to her personal brand is Rachael Kay Albers, Awkward Marketing. Check out her videos and you’ll see what I mean!
Branding is what people say when you’re not in the room! Your brand is not just about colors or fonts or logos. When defining your brand, you need to know who you are …
- What are your core values?
- What are your dreams/goals
- What are your passions/interests
When creating video content, you need to know WHY you are creating the videos.
- Brand awareness
- Engagement & relationship building
- Marketing a particular product or service
- Building your email list
- A product launch or temporary campaign.
Why?
Tiffany pointed out that repeat viewership is priceless. If someone repeatedly watches your videos, that’s a good indication they are interested in what you have to say. Reward them! Send a Facebook message to someone who watches your live videos more than once and thank them. Offer them a PDF or something related to the video … do something to let them know you appreciate them.
One of my biggest takeaways from Tiffany’s session was that I personally need to (and this is exactly how I wrote it in my notes) start doing fricking live video … and have a fricking call to action inviting people to subscribe to newsletter, to schedule a call … just do it!!
Reward those who are frequent viewers of your live video! The second thing that stuck with me about doing video (maybe because everyone else was saying the same thing?) was to be consistent. Schedule it if you need to, just be consistent.
And last but not least …
Know where your camera is!!
Did any of the nuggets I shared about Tiffany’s presentation resonate with you? If yes, which ones, and why? I invite you to let me know in a comment.
