How often do you find yourself in the middle of a simple task wondering, “Is this really the best use of my time?”
As an online marketing professional, I have the pleasure of handling tasks for business owners across the world to help them offset overwhelm. (Me and my hard-working team of experts, of course.)
Sometimes the transition is easy. Sometimes, not so much.
I thought it might be helpful to put together a list of the tasks that seem to work best for outsourcing, and a list of tasks that tend to require a bit more work to reach that “seamless” level.
Easiest marketing tasks to outsource…
Because I’m a girl who likes to look at my glass as half full, I’ll address the marketing tasks that are easiest to delegate (at least in the experience of my team).
Social Media. This seems to be something most clients have an easy time handing off to someone else. This might be because social media is so time consuming! We take care of all sorts of social media needs for business owners. We can write social media updates, schedule them, create graphic images, monitor feeds for mentions of your business … we can create a plan if you don’t have one, or follow one already in place.
Newsletters. Sending out a consistent newsletter is one of the most time-consuming bits of a successful online marketing campaign, so our clients love handing this over to us. We are well-versed in all of the major newsletter platforms (MailChimp, AWeber, Constant Contact, Infusionsoft) and can easily put your newsletter together so it gets sent out like clockwork … with as little or as much input from you as you would like.
Blogging. We can work with content provided by you, take a topic you have in mind and create a blog post based around that, or we can take your thoughts and rough draft and go from there. Most difficult marketing tasks to outsource…
The following are the most difficult marketing tasks (in our experience) to delegate. That does not mean it can’t end up working well eventually, but it certainly tends to have a much steeper learning curve to take on the following marketing tasks, and not tasks we typically recommend even attempting to outsource.
In person networking. This is something we obviously can’t do for you, and it is because of important tasks like this, that you should be outsourcing things that can be easily delegated.
Strategic planning. Yes we can help you put together a plan, but nobody knows your business like you do. You know where you want to be heading, and we can help you get there, but you should be doing that initial legwork. Yet, another good reason why you could be delegating those other tasks to free you up your time for this type of marketing work.
Travel and professional development. In order to grow your business, you should be traveling to events and conferences to help you best serve your clients. As if you needed another reason to outsource those other tasks!
Think about how much more successful your business could be if you had time to do more networking, planning, and professional development! While at the same time you have a team working on the day-to-day marketing tasks that will keep your business attracting new customers!
