I’ve been pinging all afternoon. No. My motor isn’t making a high-pitched sound. Pinging is contacting a person briefly.
I’ve collected a big folder of people I should contact. I’ve picked up the phone and called for a brief chat. I wasn’t selling. I just was finding out what was going on in their lives.
Ping. Ping. Ping.
I e-mailed another bunch just to touch base.
Ping. Ping. Ping.
I saw that one of my contacts just took a new job in a firm in New York. So, I swiveled my chair around to my box of note cards and wrote her a brief note of congratulations.
A client mentioned she has a new, bulldog puppy. I put a fresh squeaky ball in a small box and mailed it off to her.
With each ping I made a note and date to follow up again.
Maintaining relationships takes work. Pinging, quick contacts, gets your name in front of your network quickly. See how many people you can reach in an hour via phone, e-mail, notes, articles and other modes.
Let me know what creative ways you keep in touch, or ping.
