A couple of weeks ago, my tip, 37 Minutes and Counting, was a quick look at how not to get sucked into endless email management. I’m not trying to burden you with “one more task,” but this week’s tip is along the same lines and something to keep in mind.
When it comes to email, Spam filters are your friend. They are put into place to filter out the spam and prevent junk from cluttering up our main message feeds. But sometimes our friend the-spam-filter pulls in some important things, mistaking them for spam. Things we really need to see and read.
Once a week, take a quick journey into your spam/junk folder, give it a quick scan, (looking for important info that mistakenly got swooped up with the bad) and then delete or move to the inbox if appropriate.
The “Other” Message Box (Facebook)
Did you know that on Facebook, right by your regular message button, is yet another message box entitled “Other?” Typically anyone that is not on your friend’s list will fall into the “Other” message box. Most messages will be junk or spam, but occasionally there are some you might actually want to see regarding events or connections that land in this box as well. Like your spam folder in your email inbox, take the time to periodically review this “other” inbox and make sure you are not missing an important update.
