How many times have you heard the phrase “the money is in the list?” Personally, if I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a gazillion times.
The thing is, in the email marketing world, it’s a pretty accurate statement. Any marketing-savvy business owner knows the value of email marketing and having a good list.
One of the great things about having a list is … if it’s done correctly using permission-based marketing, it’s comprised of people who voluntarily signed up to receive information from you. They signed up because they are interested in what you have to offer. You already have their attention, so make use of it!
Email marketing really is all about your list. But your list doesn’t have to be large to be effective. Just responsive. A smaller responsive list is much more effective than a larger non-responsive list. It’s not the size of the list that matters, but the quality!
A responsive list is a nurtured list; and the best way to keep it alive is through email marketing.
Keeping in touch with those on your list on a regular basis will keep you in the forefront of their minds. Just like your list doesn’t have to be large to be effective, you don’t have to email your list every day to stay in touch. In fact, emailing your list too frequently can have the opposite effect and cause people to unsubscribe; so use wisdom regarding frequency and make sure you are always providing value and not only sales!
I think email marketing has gotten a bad rap at times because some of the email marketing “gurus,” the ones who should KNOW better, hit your inbox hot and heavy with
sales and “special offers” as soon as you are on their list. That doesn’t work for me, so I unsubscribe. You don’t want that!A responsive list is a nurtured list; and the best way to keep it alive is through email marketing.
Sending out a monthly or weekly newsletter consistently is a great way to stay in contact with your list. Don’t let your list grow cold.
