Will you be practicing a little self-care, or will it be work, work, work as usual?
Believe it or not, there are only 3 more Wednesdays in December. Just 17 days until we usher in the new year … 2017.
I know … seriously? Where did the year go????
Today’s Wednesday Wisdom is more about taking care of yourself than it is about anything else – that all important self-care. Of course, we don’t want to stop marketing or slack off and do nothing because it’s the end of the year and we know everyone else is slowing down for the upcoming holidays. But we do want to give ourselves a bit of a break these last three weeks of the year.
As business owners who most likely work our tails off throughout the year a lot more than we would if we worked for “the man,” we need to take time to reflect and savor the successes of 2016 (and put the not so successful times in the past so we can move forward with no regrets).
And instead of hurry, hurry, work, work, work in a frenzy to get it all done before the clock strikes midnight on the last day of the year, we need to step back and take time to actually enjoy the holidays! It’s simply another way or practicing self-care!
Practice a little self-care over the holidays. Take some time to relax, regroup and refresh!Click To TweetIt doesn’t matter what holiday you celebrate or where you celebrate it; our brains and our bodies need a little bit (well maybe a lot!) of relaxation and enjoyment with loved ones so we can regroup, recoup, and take the space we need for ourselves so we can start with fresh, clear minds for the new year. Plus, our friends and families will be much happier to have us fully present and accountable with them over the holidays rather than working away like so many of us do throughout the rest of the year.
So … even if you’re a workaholic who keeps your nose buried in your computer or locked away in your office most of the year, I encourage you to take some time to relax and spend time with friends and family this holiday season.
The important stuff will still get done. And trust me, your clients and customers won’t mind because they’ll be doing it too. If they do mind … well then, maybe they aren’t your ideal clients to begin with.
Me personally? I’ll definitely be practicing a little self-care! While I’ll be here monitoring things during one of my very slowest times of the year, I’ll still be out and about with friends and family. And so will my team! Maybe I’ll attend a few parties and get-togethers over the holidays, and possibly a New Year’s open house or two. But whatever I choose to do, I’ll be thinking about how thankful and grateful I am for everyone in my life and all of the great things I’ve experienced in 2016, and looking forward to an even more awesome 2017.
How will you be enjoying these last three weeks of the year?
