Do you use MailChimp? If you do, you know how MailChimp shows who it’s from “via,” and then a funky MailChimp email address?
In my case, it would be: Terry L. Green | BizEase Support Solutions via mail97.us4.mcsv.net
If you get my newsletter, and take a look at the from line in the last one you received, you’ll see it doesn’t show that funky little “via” email address. All it says is: Terry L. Green | BizEase Support, so it looks like it’s coming directly from me and not through a 3rd party email system like MailChimp. Pretty cool huh!
Well you can get rid of the via email address too. All you have to do is verify your email address in MailChimp – which is super duper easy, and then authenticate it with your host.
You can verify your email address in 4 easy steps!
- Click your profile name to open the Account Panel, and choose Account.
- Click the Settings drop-down menu and choose Verified domains.
- Click Verify a Domain.
- Enter the email address containing the domain you want to verify and click Send Verification Email.
Verifying your email address if the first part. Authenticating your domain is the second part … and a little trickier; but also the most important step. Why? Because authenticating your domain proves your email is the real deal and being sent by you and not a fake. You know, like those emails you get from your bank or eBay or PayPal. The ones that say they are from them, but really aren’t.
The tricky part is you have to go into your domain’s cPanel or Zone Editor and create a CNAME record and SPF (TXT) record. Here is a link to an article that will take you through the process. If your domain goes through CloudFlare, you have to create your new DNS records in CloudFlare, and possibly one other little step.
You can also authenticate your domain in Infusionsoft and a variety of other email marketing platforms! The instructions might be a little different depending on the platform, but not that much. And while there are a few hosts that don’t support authenticating your domains (1&1 and Network Solutions) the majority do.
But never fear … if you take a look at the instructions and think, “WHOA!!!! I don’t want to mess with that,” just let us know and we can handle it for you. Simply hit reply to this email and your request will land in my inbox!
