Yes it’s possible!
Here we are at the end of November, and I feel like I was just writing about ushering in 2018. But now Thanksgiving has come and gone, and the holiday season is in full swing here in the United States. Which means, it’s time to plan your holiday marketing. So, this week I’m going to pause my 3-part business health series and address the elephant in the room…how to get through the holidays with less stress, yet not lose out on the holiday marketing craze!! Never fear though, I’ll finish up with part 3 of my business health series next week!
We’re entering that time of year filled with Christmas parties, turkey dinners, shopping, and visiting friends and family. As wonderful as the holidays are, when you’re trying to run a business, they can bring a lot of stress along with them.
If you tend to return to work after the holidays feeling less rested than you did going into them, this year can be different if you put some systems in place for your holiday marketing, to allow you to enjoy the season rather than just try to get through it.
Plan ahead. With so many scheduling programs out there, most of your holiday marketing can happen easily without you. Set aside an evening, curl up with a beverage and a notepad (or your computer) and plan out what you would like to put out across your feeds over the holidays. Then schedule those updates, so you don’t have to think about this task again until after the holidays.
Delegate. If you have a team in place, make use of it! Delegate whatever work you can, so you can have some fun over the holidays. If your team members are happy for the work, why not make use of their services? And, if you don’t have a team in place now, maybe make that a plan for the new year! Speaking as someone who has a team of professionals working with me both in and on my business, if you could do one single thing right now that would make it easier to run your business this holiday season and all through the year, it would be to start building a team and putting it to work for you.
Schedule time off. You might find it easier to step back and relax a bit if you set an autoresponder for your email, and social media feeds to let people know when you’ll be out of the office. Inform any major clients of your holiday plans and make a promise to yourself that you’ll actually honor those days you’ve chosen to take off! Use that time to sit back and admire your tree. Go for a walk or drive to admire the holiday lights. Curl up by the fire with a good book, a cup of tea and your own lovely company. And while you’re at it, enjoy every minute of it.Plan out your holiday marketing for a less stressful holiday season!
Start your marketing plan for next year. This might sound crazy, but imagine if you started to make notes now about what you want to do with your business for the holiday marketing season next year! You could be so far ahead next November that you won’t even know what to do with yourself. Plus, if you start strategizing now, you can pull ideas from the campaigns you see working well. If you’re into Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales you’ll be able to plan for them in advance, and won’t forget about wanting to participate in Giving Tuesday. You’ll be able to carefully plan your email campaigns around themes that always come up around the same time each year, but you’ll be done ahead of time. Ahhh…
I hope these tips help you to do some relaxing this holiday season while your business thrives! The holidays can be a wonderful thing … so start planning now so you can ease into the holidays with less stress and more joy!
