Opt-in boxes are an absolute necessity if you want to get people on your email list. A few strategically placed opt-in boxes, as well as an exit popup can be a tremendous help in growing your list. Yes, I know pop-ups can be annoying, but if done correctly, they can accomplish the task without ticking people off.
As far as opt-in boxes go, my opt-in box and popup creator of choice is the Optin Cat plugin for WordPress. You can purchase the Personal version for a one-time fee of $37, but it doesn’t have the exit popup I wanted, so I went for the Business version for a one-time fee of $67. Both are totally worth ! To top it off, they have awesome customer support.
Optin Cat is a WordPress plugin that includes everything you need to create fabulous opt-in boxes and popups to grow your email list, and sets up in about two minutes. The opt-in boxes are super easy to create, and the plugin integrates with just about every mainstream email marketing system on the market. I wanted one that integrated easily with MailChimp … awesome! I also love that I can easily check my stats regarding impressions and clicks for each opt-in box on my website.
The newest version just came out with a feature that will let anyone leaving a comment subscribe to your newsletter (or any of your lists) in one easy step. It adds a handy little checkbox you can either pre-check to add people automatically or leave unchecked like I have so those commenting have to check the box if they want to subscribe. It’s a new feature, and in my opinion – could use a little spiffing up. I’d prefer to have a larger, more visible box to check, and have it to the left of the text rather than above it. I’ve contacted the fabulous FatCat support team and they are going to take a look at improving it. They also said it can be edited in the CSS. All in all, I really like the option as it gives one more way for people to subscribe to your list!Opt-in boxes are a necessity if you want to grow your list. All of the opt-in boxes on my website (except for the widget in the sidebar) are FatCat opt-ins. There is one at the bottom of all of my blog posts, and an exit popup that appears when someone scrolls 50% down the page and tries to exit. It’s a product I highly recommend if you want to grow your list easily!
And in case you were wondering, the opt-in box below isn’t an image like the ones above. It’s live … just enter your name and email address to try it out and grab our free report 😉
