Bringing on new clients is always a team effort. I depend on my team to help me develop proposals and strategies when looking at prospective clients. Not to long ago my team helped me pull together proposals for a couple of prospective clients.
Both professionals had been in business for awhile; but were having trouble moving the needle and bringing in new business. Why? Perhaps it’s because they had no real marketing strategy or plan in place. (For shame!) That’s where we come in.
I brought in our content curator, copywriter, social media team, WordPress expert, and newsletter aficionado. The entire motley crew I always call upon to help with clients or prospects in dire need of online marketing help. Together, we formulated a proposal … the beginnings of a plan to get a consistent marketing strategy in place.
Both of these prospects were looking for the same types of services. The same types of services most of our clients need! In many cases these folks have never really had a proper marketing strategy or plan to begin with; but often, it’s more the case where they had a plan, but discarded it at some point along the way until they ended up falling so far behind they had no idea where to pick things back up.
I am always so happy when coaches and speakers come to us for marketing help. Not only because it’s great for my business, but because it feels so incredibly rewarding helping them jump-start their marketing and begin growing their businesses again. Generally, we take these clients through the gamut with an email marketing strategy, a social media marketing plan, and a blogging schedule. After we’ve come up with a plan, they generally need help implementing all of the bits and pieces, too. (Which we are also thrilled to assist with!)
A lot of the time, clients end up in a state of shell-shock, going from 0 to 60 (or even 0 to 30) with their marketing efforts. It can be overwhelming if they haven’t been doing anything at all. But let me tell y’all, we are serious about the importance of having a marketing strategy, so we look at it all … and then start them off slow if needed.
The key is that we get them started! And there’s the rub. Even though it can seem overwhelming and difficult, it’s crucial to get started, and then stick with the program!Having trouble moving bringing in new business? Maybe you need a marketing strategy!
Yes it might take a lot of time. Yes it might be more than you ever thought it would be. (Especially if you are starting at ground zero.) But it will work – IF you follow through and stick with it.
Think about it. If you’ve ever taught a child how to ride a two-wheeler, did you let them give up when it got too hard? No. You told them to get back on the bike and keep on practicing!
Going through the process of working with a team like ours to create an overall marketing strategy will only get you the results you want if you follow the plan and give it an honest go. Kind of like how a gym membership won’t get you abs of steel unless you put in the work!New marketing strategies take time to work, but are worth it. You just have to start!
I don’t mean taking a month or two and seeing how things go. That isn’t enough. You need a solid year of effort in order to try things out and build the kind of momentum you need to see to make that proverbial needle move, and see a return on investment from all of the hard work. If you give up, you’ll be in the same place a year from now, wishing you’d gotten your act together ages ago.
If you put a good marketing plan in place … even a basic one, you WILL experience growth. But not if you give up before things have a chance to percolate and happen!
