It’s a well-known fact among businessowners that it’s easier to keep a client than it is to find a new one. Another – maybe not so well-known – fact is that one of the biggest reasons clients go elsewhere or just go away, is because they forget about you. Marketing experts will tell you that you need to keep in contact with your clients at least 7 times a year, or more, if you want to keep your services or product fresh in their minds. I’ve also heard experts say that postcards are one of the most effective means of keeping in contact with your customers on such a frequent basis.
Wow! Seven times a year or more? That’s a lot of postcards. Plus, if you want to send something that will get the recipient’s attention, it can get pretty expensive when you have to have postcards printed all the time, plus pay for postage. As a VA, I understand how expensive it can get, both with the cost of sending out postcards several times a year, and with the time it takes to do so.
So . . . I was really excited the other day when I received one of my regular newsletters in the mail from AddMe.com. There was an advertisement for this great service, very similar to Constant Contact. It’s called Vertical Response. Not only does Vertical Response handle email campaigns similar to Constant Contact and other similar services, but it has this great feature called iBuilder Postcard for sending postcards. Vertical Response allows you to choose from a huge library of graphics (or add your own) so that you can design your postcard in full color, and customize them just like you would get if you ordered them from a printshop. Once you finish designing your postcard, you can send them out in a campaign just as you would an ezine through Constant Contact. The great thing about this particular system, though, is that Vertical Response sends out your actual postcard printed on quality stock in full color, directly to your client’s mailbox. But that’s not all . . . the feature I like most, is that you can send as many or as few as you want, for an unbelievably low price – including postage! You can even design and send a sample postcard to yourself to check out the quality before you send them out to your clients.

For me to send out 30 postcards would cost $27.00. If I wanted to send out 100, it would be $86.00 (You can get an instant quote on the site for the exact number of postcards you want to send at a time.) If I only wanted to send 5 postcards, it would only be $4.75!!!! Very cool!
So when was the last time you sent a mailing to your clients, and how often do you keep in touch? Why don’t you try Vertical Response’s iBuilder Postcard system out for a spin . . . I think I will.
