Here’s another short but sweet goody by Tom Letourneau. Always short, but always very informative!
Get Ready for 2007!
by Tom Letourneau
Fall begins in a week and a half and that heralds the planning season for most businesses. There will be meetings and corporate retreats with projections and forecasts of what’s to come in the next year. We’ll all be looking into our crystal balls trying to divine the future.
This year, I’d like you to do something a bit differently. Instead of just taking 2006 numbers and adding 10%, spend some time thinking about the future. Spend some time looking for trends in the marketplace. Banks are looking for ways to differentiate themselves. Credit unions are designing programs for under-served markets. Pharmaceutical companies are touting their latest pill targeted at the baby boomers. Where is your industry going? What does your staff see? When you think you know, zig when the rest of them are zagging.
It’s been said that the best way to predict the future is to create it. I’m challenging you to be bold in your thinking, to be adventurous in your visioning and to be stimulating in your goal setting. Reaching for the stars guarantees you won’t come up with a handful of mud.
Be unique. Life is short, break some rules.
