I love social media and all of its many components and platforms. I also love to blog, which plays a big part in social media.
If YOU love social media and you also love blogging, then you should check out LinkedIn’s publishing platform. It’s kind of like LinkedIn’s answer to blogging, except it’s done on LinkedIn, and the posts are known as long-form posts.
If you are already taking advantage of this additional way to get your content in front of the eyes of your target market and ideal clients, then bravo! Well done. If not, you might want to consider adding it to your content marketing arsenal.
Long-form posts are great for repurposing content you’ve already published on your own blog (and if you’re smart, you’ve already promoted and shared the post through your other social media channels). I always put “This post was originally published on the BizEase Support Solutions blog” and link it to the original blog post to establish that it is original content, as well as drive the reader back to my website. Or, if you don’t currently have a blog, it’s a great place to start. Oh … and don’t forget to add your author bio at the end of the post. Your connections and followers have the opportunity to like and comment on your posts, just like they would on your blog, except there are a LOT more opportunities for your posts to be seen since they are right out there, front and center on LinkedIn. As an added benefit, there are share buttons so you, your connections and followers can share your post on Twitter and Facebook, which expands your reach even more because it drives people back to your post – which is located on your profile on LinkedIn. Can you see the value and benefit in using this wondrous platform? There are also other tips and tricks you can use to gain even more exposure from your LinkedIn long-post, but I think that might be good for another blog post.
It’s really super easy to start publishing on LinkedIn, so the next time you log in to your account, you should see the following option to write a new post. If you don’t … then you might have to add a new block to your profile.
Or, you can click on the button for your home stream and then the “Publish a post” button with the little red pen in the little red box and start publishing!
