For those of us whose target market and ideal clients are virtual, social media marketing seems to be at the top of the marketing strategy food chain, and has become one of the top ways we market our businesses.
However, it should not be our only marketing strategy – no matter how much we think it works. To have a truly effective marketing strategy, we also need to incorporate other forms of marketing into the mix.
A well rounded marketing strategy should include social media, email marketing, PR and blogging!
In addition to connecting and engaging with others on social media, what else are you doing?
Do you blog? If not, I highly recommend it. Blogging on a regular basis helps you continually produce fresh content for your website, get the word out about what you do, and … show your audience what you KNOW. Good, consistent content helps establish you as an expert in your field.
But once you publish a new blog post, don’t stop there … promote your post on all of your social media channels to make sure everyone knows about it.Social Media+blogging+email marketing+PR are what make up a well rounded marketing strategy.
What about email marketing? Are you sending out a newsletter on a regular basis? Once a week? Once a month? Sending out a newsletter on a regular basis keeps your content in front of those on your list, (OMG I hope you DO have a list??? If not, contact us!) and helps build and establish trust and consistency. After a while, your readers will start expecting your newsletter, and look forward to receiving it.
Last but definitely NOT least. What about PR? Do you have a PR plan in place? Are you sending out press releases when something newsworthy happens in your business? Do you have a media page with a downloadable press kit on your website? Or do you have a press kit at all! Do you know what your audience is saying about you? Reputation management is such an important part of your PR efforts!
Social Media + blogging + email marketing and PR are what truly make up a well rounded marketing strategy.
