Most marketing savvy business owners know the goal is to drive people back to their website so they can wow them with their copy and get them to sign up for their free reports or opt-in giveaways, and ultimately sign up for their services and buy their products.
Sounds easy, but it isn’t always.
A good way, however, is to get people back to your site or blog through backlinks!
According to Google, a backlink is “an incoming hyperlink from one web page to another website. The more backlinks you have pointing back to your site, the more popular it will be.“
If I reference someone or someone’s website in a blog post or anywhere else on my website – and include a hyperlink back to the person’s site or blog, that’s a backlink.
While there are many ways to get backlinks, a super easy way is to to leave a comment on someone’s blog post. When you leave your comment, you are prompted to leave your name, email address and the URL to your website. While the email address is always kept private, the website address is not. That’s a backlink. Are you taking advantage of backlinks to drive people back to your site and increase SEO?Click To Tweet
Not only do backlinks help drive people back to your website, but the use of backlinks is an excellent SEO tactic that will impact your Google rankings … good AND bad – according to the ranking of the site where your backlink resides. So one thing to keep in mind is that you’ll want to make sure you comment on high ranking blogs and sites so the backlink score is high. Backlinks on blogs that are eventually abandoned and websites no longer in business will give you low ranking scores, which will negatively impact your SEO.
My challenge to you would be to find 3 or 4 popular, well-known blogs and leave a few comments on a regular basis. It will help your Google ranking, and you never know … your comment might be seen by someone who clicks back to your website and likes what they see!
