On this Thanksgiving Day, I am so grateful and thankful for the tremendous blessings in my life. Both personally, and professionally.
I’m dealing with something in my personal life now that is putting a strain on my business. One of my children needs me at the moment, so I’m there. This is, thankfully, a temporary situation; but family takes priority. Always has, always will. It’s as simple as that.
October 1 marked my twenty fifth year in business. I still find it shocking that 1991 was 25 years ago, but I guess it was!
When I first stepped into the realm of the self-employed, I thought Fastype was a great name for my business. It was a bit of a play on words for “fast” and “typing”, because that’s what I did! I provided word processing, desktop publishing, resume writing, laser printing, meeting prep, Faxing, direct mail, and a number of other services for local business owners. I started my own business after far too many years working in the administrative field for other companies. I wanted to go out and see what I could accomplish on my own. Turns out… quite a lot!
On this first day of 2015 as we enter a new year full of new hopes and dreams, I find myself so full of gratitude and thankfulness for everyone around me; especially those who have been such an influence in the success of my business. “It takes a village” is a saying that usually relates to parenthood, but those of us in business also know it oftentimes ‘takes a village” to create success and longevity in the professional world as well.
