Yep … it’s true. Live streaming is here to stay. First came Periscope, then Meerkat, and now even Facebook has decided to enter the arena with it’s new live streaming option. Periscope, Meerkat and Facebook live streaming are all fine and dandy, but the one that interests me and gets me excited is Blab.im.
Have you ever heard of IFTTT? It stands for “if this then that,” and is driven by recipes you set up to perform specific actions by connecting your favorite apps and programs. There are a whole slew of apps you can connect to perform tasks in the background. It’s the crockpot of apps – set it and forget it! As their website says … you can use these recipes to shop smarter, for news alerts, to stay healthy, keep in touch, be more productive, and even connect your home. I just love how I can connect my favorite apps to make them work harder and more efficiently than they already do. The combinations are just mind-boggling!
In my quest to become more visible on social media, I’ve been trying out various graphics apps and programs that make it easy to add text and special effects to graphics and photos. I must say I’ve tried quite a few in the process … some get a big thumbs up, others … not so much.
Out of all the ones I have tried, here are my top 4 choices!
Social media is an ever-changing entity, especially Facebook. Sometimes things change so quickly you barely have time to adjust to one change before another one pops up.
Nowadays, so many of the things we do in life and business are so much easier to accomplish when trying to combine and navigate a busy personal life with an equally busy business life because of the ability to use our Smartphones to conduct business. Some may curse the constant connectivity our mobile devices provide, while others embrace and appreciate being able to conduct business on the go. I know I’m certainly one of the latter.
If you are an author … through a traditional publishing company or self-published; hard copy, soft copy or eBook, and your book isn’t available on Amazon in their Kindle eBook format, you are limiting your reach and missing out on a growing market for book sales. While studies show more Americans still prefer holding a physical book in their hot little hands, the number of those who prefer an e-reader like Amazon’s Kindle is growing. Pew Research Center’s article A Snapshot of Reading in America in 2013 stated the following: “As of January 2014, some 76% of American adults ages 18 and older said that they read at least one book in the past year. Almost seven in ten adults (69%) read a book in print in the past 12 months, while 28% read an e-book, and 14% listened to an audio book.”
The social media platforms we all know and love are always changing, so there are always new crops of social media updates popping up here and there. Social media updates in general are usually based more on things like Facebook continually changing their algorithm, or LinkedIn adding new features to improve networking and keeping track of your stats.
I seem to be writing a LOT about social media lately … changes in the major platforms, the new and upcoming platforms on the rise, why social media should be an important part of your marketing strategy, etc. I guess one of the reasons is because, for those of us whose target market and ideal clients are online, social media is where and how they find us and we find them, so social media platforms and social media tools are important. Having, or not having, a good social media strategy plan in place can be the difference between the life or death of your business.
Thanks to online buzz and industry studies, entrepreneurs are beginning to see the real value in using Instagram as another tool in their marketing arsenal. Paired with the fact that 13% of all Internet users have an Instagram account, the popularity of this image-based social media channel is picking up steam. Facts are also showing that engagement from Instagram users is as much as 10 times greater than other platforms.
