My very short newsletter tip, the BizEase Buzz, goes out every Friday. It hits the inbox of my subscribers with some kind of time-saving tip on plugins, apps, and tools that will help them be more productive. In general, I do my best to pick my tip and get it scheduled at least the day before so it’s done. But when I woke up last Friday morning, my newsletter was not scheduled, I still had no tip, and my brain was empty.
When I posted a comment about it on Facebook, one of my friends commented “Good to know you’re human!”
So, that’s what my tip was about. It was about being human, and how to run a business in spite of it. AND be OK with it! And boy oh boy did it resonate with some of the people on my list!
We’re all human. We all (at least everyone on my list and 99.9% of those who read my blog) have businesses. Some of us have children, some of us have a “day” job in addition to our businesses. Some of us volunteer for committees and organizations. Some of us “fill in the blank.”
Let’s just get real and recognize we’re all busy, in one way or another. It’s called life, and sometimes we simply have to do what we can and let the rest pass.
While the following isn’t my usual technical or productivity tip, it is a tip. It made sense to me that morning, and makes sense to me now.
Do your absolute best; but if what you need to do is not life altering or something crucial that absolutely has to be done, do what you can and forget about the rest. It’s OK, and if others don’t understand, that’s OK too.

As my friend pointed out, we’re human. And it’s OK to be human!
So last Friday, today, and every day going forward … I’m honoring my humanness by giving myself permission to do what I can and forget the rest. I encourage you to do the same.
And, if along the way I forget I’m human, I hope you’ll be there to remind me! I’ll do the same for you.
