What does your Twitter engagement look like? We all WANT more Twitter engagement, right? But are your tweets getting the engagement and activity you want from your followers? Or does it seem as if they are just floating out there in social media never-land … with no engagement or sign of being retweeted? Does anyone even see them?
A good question to ask is … are you including images or links or hashtags, or are they simply text-only?
Let’s face it. Text-only tweets are boring. Text-only tweets with links are still boring. Boring tweets don’t get retweeted, and links from boring tweets don’t get click-throughs.
Asking simple questions will often result in more Twitter engagement from your followers. You’re going to get more Twitter engagement when you include, at the bare minimum, a link and relevant hashtags. However, you’ll get the most Twitter engagement and retweets if you include images.
Why is that? Because people are visual. Especially on a platform like Twitter where content flies by at the speed of light. So what is the solution to getting more engagement and action from your tweets?
Include images, links and hashtags in your Tweets for better engagement and action.
The links and hastags just make sense. But don’t take my word for it about the images. According to a post on the Buffer blog, “Content with relevant images gets 94 percent more views than content without.” and “Tweets with images receive 150 percent more retweets.” Now those are some amazing stats.[clickToTweet tweet=”Tweets should contain images, links and hashtags for better engagement and action.” quote=”Tweets should contain images, links and hashtags for better engagement and action.”]
Think about it the next time you’re on Twitter. What catches your eye? What compels you to take a closer look at a specific tweet? Chances are, you are either looking for specific hashtags, there is a link to something you know you want to take a closer look at, or an image catches your eye.
You can take your chances with text-only tweets. You can up your chances a little more by including a link to something compelling. You can up your chances even more by including relevant or trending hashtags. Your best bet for maximum exposure and engagement (other than just having such kick-butt content that everyone always engages with you), is to include images. Nice, big, attractive images!
I invite you to do your own test and see if I’m right. The next time you tweet, create 4 tweets. Use the same tweet content, but create one that is text-only, one with a link included, one with a link and hashtags, and one with a link, a graphic image, AND hashtags. Then watch and see which one gets more engagement?
