Here we are looking at the back end of 2019, setting our sights on a shiny new year.
This is when most of us tend to start thinking of ways we want the next year to be better than the last. It’s when we start the process of setting goals and plans for our biggest, most successful year ever. And that’s great! Go with the momentum while inspiration strikes!
But, a word of caution. Before you start setting a bunch of new business goals, I urge you to take a step back and revisit the goals you set at the same time last year. How are they going? Have you met them all? Or have you forgotten what all you wanted to accomplish this year?
After winter sets in and the calendar flips from January to February to March, and so on and so forth, it’s easy to forget about all the hopes and plans we have for a new year. Eventually, we ease off on the business goals we set for ourselves with such strong intention in the new year. It happens!
If you are a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know I’ve written several posts here and there along this same vein … about how we can so easily forget about those goals we had for ourselves and our businesses, and how we can take steps to meet them the next time around.
The following are three tips I’ve share before. They still apply!
Three tips you can put in place to help meet your business goals this year.
- Keep your goals in front of you. Rather than having your goals written down in a binder on a shelf somewhere, or on your computer in a file you never look at, actually print them out and place them on your desk, in your agenda book, on your fridge … wherever you’ll be sure to see them on a regular basis.
- Create monthly action plans. Look at your business over the course of six months or a year, and make little mini plans for each month to help you with your overall greater goals. For instance, if you want to host six webinars by the end of the year, plot that out over a number of months with things like: Month 1, create newsletter list. Month 2, Purchase sponsored Facebook post to grow following. Month 3, Host first webinar. Once you have all of these smaller, individual things planned out, you can start creating task-based action plans for each month so you have an actual strategy to propel you forward.
- Enlist help. Consider working with a marketing team to help you meet and exceed those goals you’re setting for your business. The right team (ahem) can implement your marketing plan so your business is being promoted while you’re taking care of your clients.
