Content, content, content … we all have it, we all consume it, and we all want OUR own particular marketing message to get out there in front of our target market and ideal client.
Problem is, there is so much content “out there,” it’s difficult to be heard over the noise of all of the other marketing messages filling up and occupying the same space we’re trying to fill. This is simply one of the hard truths about doing business in a virtual world.
While we can’t stop or remove all of the other marketing messages taking up space in all of our favorite social media streams, there are still a few things we can do to “up” the volume on our own marketing message so it stands out and reaches the eyes and ears of our ideal clients. We can mix it up!
Mix up your marketing message by adding audio and short-form video.
You’ve probably already heard this a gazillion times, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth mentioning again. If you’re already incorporating audio and short-form video into your marketing message, bravo! But are you getting the most out of that video and audio by repurposing it into other formats? Many of your aren’t. I’ll even belly up to the bar and admit that this is definitely a “do what I say, not what I do” type of message, because I’m not doing video or audio as much as I should be, and certainly not consistently. Yet. That’s the beauty of it all. Not everyone consumes content in the same way. Some people are readers (me), some are listeners, and some need as many of their senses working at the same time – so they get more out of video.
A great way to see what types of media your prospects and ideal clients use to consume content is to take a look at their social media accounts and see what they are doing. Are they using video? Audio? Text? Text Graphics? Chances are, they’ll be offering their own content to their audience in the way they consume it best.
There are just so many different ways to get your marketing message out to the masses and in front of those you want to reach. Another beautiful thing about using these types of media is you don’t have to create something new for each type. You can simply repurpose your content in a variety of ways. Blog post to audio or video. Video or audio transcribed to blog post. Video to audio. Same content. Different media. There are lots of ways to mix it up.
So, my challenge to you this week is to mix it up a bit. If your marketing message has primarily been text-based, throw in an audio piece or a quickie video … maybe using something like Facebook Live. Just be creative and try something new.
