Everyone is always looking for the next best “thing” to increase engagement on Facebook. Many tactics and tricks have come and gone on this powerhouse social media channel, but one in particular seems to have some staying power. Asking simple questions.
The comment rates on simple questions are more than double that of regular Facebook updates; however I want to point out a few key points to keep in mind when using this engagement garnering trick wisely.
Keywords: Try asking questions that include words like “would,” “who” and “should.” Studies have shown these types of questions get higher response rates over questions that start with “why” and “how.”
Ask Appropriate Questions: If you are a coach or an author, asking your fans a question about groundhogs or the drought in Dubai may not be a wise tactic. Choose questions that are either relevant to your brand and message, or are based on personality choices, like “If you could be anyone else in the world for one day, who would you be?”Asking simple questions on Facebook can help increase engagement and keep conversations going.Click To Tweet
Short and Sweet Please: When asking questions that initiate a response on Facebook, pick ones that can be answered in a sentence or less. A question like, “Why do you love your mom” is less likely to get a response than a simple question like “If you could give your younger self advice in two words, what would you say?”
Used wisely based on the things you know about your Facebook friends and target market, simple questions can help increase engagement and keep conversations going. Get your fans involved!
