Last Wednesday I talked about why blogging for business is a good idea. This week, I’d like to look at 4 benefits I believe you won’t want to ignore!
Blogging isn’t just about sharing a few hundred words on a topic, it’s a whole online marketing strategy hosted right on your website. After last week’s post, you can understand how blogging could be an excellent place to amplify and share your message. You may have even had a website designer encourage you to include a blog on your website but didn’t understood why.
Let’s go there!
A Blogging Benefits Count-Off
Benefit #1: A content-marketing strategy that will keep you top of mind with your readers. Let’s not forget that content found in a blog is typically considered to be a reliable and trustworthy source. People trust blogs to be a quality source of information, and a place for learning more about relevant topics. When done right, the content you share helps your ideal client and those in your target market get to know you better, relate to your voice and opinions being shared, as well as get a sense of who you are from your writing. It’s part of the know, like, and trust of relationship marketing.
Benefit #2: High SEO Value. Search engines want to deliver high quality answers in search results. While there is an awful lot of competition to get your content on the first page of Google search results anymore, the more you blog about the key topics in your area of expertise, the more frequently search engines will push your blog posts as the definitive answer for these types of searches. Each blog post acts like a bread crumb leading new people back to your website. The higher you go, the more people will find you.
Benefit #3: Source of Inbound Links. Inbound links are hyperlinks leading back to your website and, specifically, your blog posts. When others share and link to your blog posts, the search engines take notice of this action. Search engines then push your posts and website higher in search results because others are proving to them what you’re saying matters to others. One thing to note however when linking to someone else’s blog or website. Be careful to share links only to trusted, active sources. Linking to sites that have become dead, or have negative comments can hurt rather than help.
Benefit #4: The social scene happens on your own website. You don’t have to leave your website to have conversations with your audience on one of the social media platforms. You can actually use comments to communicate and develop relationships on each blog post. A few well-placed comments on the posts of other high ranking blogs can garner the same results. Leave the comments turned on and always reply to each comment a reader makes. Social media platforms come and go. Remember MySpace? Yeah. Comments on your blog posts are there for all to see and continue the conversation as long as the post is published. There’s no end date to when the conversation ceases.Do you know about these 4 benefits to blogging for business?
These are just 4 of the benefits to blogging for business. I’m sure you’ll notice more of them once you start blogging or get back on the proverbial blogging horse. If you haven’t blogged in a while, I encourage you to start again. Start slowly if you must, and as you find your rhythm, increase how often you post. Soon you’ll be rewarded as more and more posts push higher in the search results and then the conversation party starts happening on each blog post.
If you need help getting started, or simply don’t have time to blog as much as you’d like, let me know. It’s what we do, and we’re happy to help!
