Facebook keeps rolling out new features, right and left. I usually don’t get too excited right away, because I am typically at the bottom of the roll-outs.
But not this time baby … I’m in!
Facebook has a new video platform that will host original programming. It’s called Watch. They are starting with more than 100 new shows … some already streaming, with more to come. One of the shows already being promoted is all about Fiona the Hippo. You remember Fiona … she’s the preemie hippo at the Cincinnati Zoo that’s taken the Internet by storm. But that’s not all, there will be a lot of educational shows, documentaries, and a variety of other shows in all shapes and sizes and genres to keep us coming back for more.
Right now, you can check out the shows like Humans of new York, Loosely Exactly Nicole, Returning the Favor, Ball in the Family, and a variety of other shows. I love those feel good shows, so of course I’m already hooked on Returning the Favor.

I’m curious to see what kind of an impact Watch has on Facebook video, how we as business owners can incorporate it into our social media marketing, and just what it’s capable of. Will being picked up by Watch give business owners an opportunity to monetize their videos? What does that look like? I have a couple of friends who do regularly scheduled Facebook Live shows, that are hoping to get their shows picked up.
Curiosity also has me wondering if Watch is going to give YouTube a run for its money? Inquiring minds want to know 😉
